Nigerian music star Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo aka D’banj has opened up on his family situation and revealed some exclusive news about his next project.
The musician, who lost his only son in a drowning incident in 2018 at his home in the commercial city of Lagos, has disclosed he’s expecting another son with his wife in a couple of weeks.
D’banj, 39, told the BBC on 22nd August that he’d be releasing a symphony project and an album in celebration and appreciation for the recovery they have made after the loss of Daniel Oyebanjo III.
The Afrobeats star noted that the musical project would preach faith, hope, restoration, forgiveness. However, he failed to reveal a date for the release.
D’banj was in Los Angeles attending the BET awards ceremony when his son died June 25, 2019. He was one year old.
He gained world fame for his 2012 hit, Oliver Twist.
D’banj calls himself “Koko master” which could mean a variety of things from being the “boss”, “lover” and the “main topic”.
His music is a mix of Yoruba, English and Pidgin.
D’banj became a father in May 2017, and regularly shared pictures of his son on his Instagram page.
His last picture was on 17 June, of him changing his son’s soiled diapers on Father’s Day.
